Re: timpo artic
Very nice indeed. Any idea if there would be a better chance of picking up the Bishops Edinburgh one in Edinburgh or were they all on general sale everywhere?
Re: timpo artic
It does seem very odd that they should have produced two sets of decals: one with the London address and one with the Edinburgh one. Could these have been promotional models for distribution to (would-be) customers (c.f. the Matchbox two-line 46b Pickfords)?Ewan wrote:Very nice indeed. Re: timpo artic
That ones great Dave. I remember the company well and was still going when I left the UK. Bishops and Pickfords were probably the 2 largest movers in London at the time. I should imagine even the Bishop[s model is a rare beastie to come across nowadays.
Re: timpo artic
I've always felt that "Bishop's Move" was an extraordinarily clever piece of wordplay (on a par with Knights of Old).
Re: timpo artic
i would imagine that they were gifts for using bishops and you got one from the branch you used ie london or edinburgh,i haven,t managed to find a pic of the scottish one yet but they are suposed to be the same colour ,pale yellow.Idris wrote:It does seem very odd that they should have produced two sets of decals: one with the London address and one with the Edinburgh one.
