The prettiest box ever.
The prettiest box ever.
A comment was made on another thread recently about superfast "F" boxes in general being the best. It got me to wondering, which single box is truly the best? I don't mean which series, or is the rarest, or most valuable, just which one box do you find to be the best? Perhaps it is even for a model that is common or somewhat unloved. Remember, beauty is subjective.
Once you add in all the Majors, Kings, play sets, etc. it gets pretty hard to figure out so what if we start with adding a picture of our favorite 1-75 box?
To be honest this is the first time I have set off to find the best 1 so I will have to ponder before adding mine, but please feel free to add yours now and tell us why you think it is the single best box.

Re: The prettiest box ever.
A good question and not easily answered. But without thinking long for me it is F-Box #56, because:
- authentic and realistic drawing
- the perspective of the model
- the color matching between BMC and background of the box
- the script of the F-box per se
- and last but not least the temporal background of the appearance: from RW to SF in 1969!
- ...and some other reasons I can not think now.
but that's just my opinion

Picking one box out of so many. Can I only eat one Lays potato chip. I think not.
By series here would be my favorites.
The b-box for the 10b. Perhaps the coolest model Lesney made and the only gw I had when I was a kid. A nice centered graphic.
The c-box for the 34b. The second coolest model ever made. One look at the box you know it's a VW.
The d-box for the 6c. As old as the d-boxes are, to many look like cut, copy and paste. The 6c box doesn't have that odd 3-D effect. Super nice art work. Never met a Euclid truck that wasn't cool.
The e-box for the 8d. Again very nice graphics and it's a Cat.
The Superfast f-box for the 59c. It has that 69/70 psychedelic look to the art. Jack Webb meets Quentin Tarantino.
Last would be the g-box for the 75b. It's a Ferrari.
Hey, do ya think I used the word cool enough times. Like ya know.
Much Fun,
Jeff

Re: The prettiest box ever.
Well this got off to a great start and then stalled like a lead balloon. I must admit though, the answer is harder than I thought. The cars seem to get faster from the f-g-h series. So far the g box for #19 seems to be winning (even though the model itself doesn't drive me wild) but I'm still uncommitted. I may need a play day before I can decide.

Re: The prettiest box ever.
It is an extremely difficult question which is why I am still considering my answer.
Re: The prettiest box ever.
I agree. I have currently changed my mind to this one since the irony of it, combined with my 1:1 in the garage give it extra points.

I agree with you motorman. The box art is a collection in it's own. I have always wanted to set up a box display after visiting the home and viewing the displays Nigel Cooper has. His is the best box display I have ever seen. If he reads this, maybe some pics? One day I will try to copy his ideas.
