POP UP ADVERTS ON FORUM

Post by motorman »

Nick what's happened to the forum?

I have noticed these little green symbols appearing next to certain key like "win" and "gold" words and when you hover your cursor over them all these pop ups appear. Please tell me this is not an upgrade??? The last thing we need is third party adverts appearing when we are reading and writing posts.!!!

for example: Gold

What a nightmare. Not happy :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Hi Alex.
There are no pop up ads on the forum, sounds like you picked up a piece of adware.

Probably the easiest way to get rid of it is by resetting your pc to an earlier date

I'd clear your cache and temp files first and then run a virus scan to see if anything is picked up before doing anything else.

Just found a rogue program called "Start saving" which installed itself 2 days ago. Interestingly enough i just did an AVG virus scan upgrade 2 days ago aswell!! How co-incidental. I have now uninstalled this program which seems to have solved the problem for the moment. Nightmare.

Thanks guys and sorry for shouting Nick.... i hope you can forgive me

Glad it's sorted mm, deep breaths.... There's lots of unscrupulous people out there, it seems like they're just waiting to pounce and install the nasty stuff and hijack your browser.
