CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL, 27c, inner roof number
]When working at my catalog I have a critical look to my models again to find restored models. When I just started I never paid any attention to it, as I trusted everyone. Of course my green Metallic Cadillac was heavily restored and I took it appart to take pictures from the inside casting in order to show the casting in my catalog. In this way it still had its use.
I was quite surprised to see that the roof was carrying the rare number 76 of the Cadillac. Knowing about the value of the models I was frightened to have broken a genuine number 76 Cadillac but I forgot where I put it (old age I suppose). Fortunately I found it back this morning and fortunately the baseplate was saying 27. You can imagine I was quite relieved not to destroy an even restored number 76!!!!!

Re: 27-C CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL
That is very, very interesting indeed.
Up until now, the only primary source evidence for the original numbering of the 27c Cadillac was a list of models on the back of one of the early giftset boxes.

All the window inserts have 76 on them and it never changed for the life of the model. It's something that has been reported several times, on various sites for over a decade at least.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: 27-C CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL
Maybe so, but not on this Forum: it wasn’t even mentioned in the old thread we had on planned models 76-80 (which actually ended up discussing planned models 76-81).Tinman wrote:All the window inserts have 76 on them and it never changed for the life of the model. This is the first time I have heard about this.

Yes, on Nicks forum! I actually made a point of addressing this very issue, here, in 2013. It was within a thread about the Caddy. That would make it the second time I've mentioned the 76 on the window insert on Nicks forum in the last couple of years. I also pretty sure I noted this fact in the thread you mentioned.Idris wrote:Maybe so, but not on this Forum: it wasn’t even mentioned in the old thread we had on planned models 76-80 (which actually ended up discussing planned models 76-81).Tinman wrote:All the window inserts have 76 on them and it never changed for the life of the model. If that is so Joe, then my apologies. It obviously passed me by (twice).

It was a short one sentence post and no one commented on it (I think it may have gone little noticed).Idris wrote:If that is so Joe, then my apologies. It obviously passed me by (twice).

Re: 27-C CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL
What does the glazing unit for the 7b Ford Anglia read? (This is supposed to have been pencilled in as no. 79, although no primary source material has come to light to support this.)
Re: 27-C CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL
I remember the glazing observation in our previous discussion but if it hasnt been added to the listing text yet its a shame because some folks have forgotten this fascinating fact!
Re: 27-C CADILLAC SIXTY SPECIAL
The Encyclopedic memory of the Tinman makes fools of us once more. I am afraid that I am with Idris, never having seen the glaze number before, and my also having missed any recent Post of it on the Forum. A mention of this glazing fact at Nick's site together with Johnnijhuis' picture, and also credit to both he and the Tinman for this 're-discovery' are in order.
My earliest Anglias have only 'Ford Anglia' cast into their glaze from what I can see of it without drilling one out.
If anyone can retrieve the Posts concerning the unreleased models 76 through 81 Lesney models, perhaps we could add them somewhere here so that we can have added discussions rather than an archaeological rehash of what we once knew as 'facts'........It's tough getting old, and even tougher remembering how you got there......kwakers
