Model number 57/003, a Chevrolet Impala, another un-common model, yet this is another one shown in the 1966, U.K. catalogue. Two versions exist of this model, one with the white roof as shown in the picture and without the white roof, being left in the same main body colour. I am afraid I don't remember which one was for the U.K. market and which one was for the U.S. markets, but that was the only reason for the two versions. This model is also a little difficult to identify fully, it has details from a 1963 and a 1964 car and like the Corvair Monza, the panel shut-lines are proud.

Model number 57/004, is based on the 1963 Oldsmobile 'Delta' 88, 2 door coupe. Another model that seems to be freely available, but was not in the 1966, U.K. catalogue.

Model number 57/005, another model not in the 1966, U.K. catalogue, a fine model based on the 1964 Ford Thunderbird 2 door coupe. With opening doors the overall look is spoiled if the doors are pushed in too far when closed. This can be quite hard to find.

Model number 57/006, a 1964, Nash Rambler. This is the last of the models in this range. This was also shown in the 1966, U.K. catalogue. The pictured example is sitting in front of its 1965, red striped 'window' box and you can see how fragile this design was, not surprising then that Dinky introduced the new fully closed picture box for the 1966 model range. This also has the panel shut-lines standing proud of the body. The model is based on the..."Classic 770 Station Wagon" and is hard to find.

This is the 1965, red striped 'window' box, essentially the same as the 1964 version, but with the added angled red stripes each side of the viewing window. All six models were probably available in this box for the U.S. markets, but when three models came to the U.K. in 1966, they were in the fully closed picture box. The three models for the U.K. were...the Buick Riviera, the Chevrolet Impala and the Nash Rambler.

When these were new, they were not very popular, but have become quite collectible now. A recent mint and boxed example of the Buick Riviera, in it's original U.S. box, (like the one shown here), was on-line for over $300.

Thanks to Vectis for the loan of some of the pictures, hope you find the article interesting.
