28b - Thames compressor - unlisted variation

Post by tandyfan »

Probably more of an oddity/oops rather than a genuine variation. This one has a mix of axle types; one crimped, one rounded.

Please check the front axle from the other side, it will be probably crimped.

Sorry, but no, both rounded on other side.

The base plate has the wheels and axle installed in a seperate process and at a different time, so it's entirely possibe for the axle ends not to match. Must have been assembled right as equipment was being switched over. It's a similar production quirk to the older models having one flat head axle and one round head axle (although the latter is far more common). Nice find!
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
