An interesting piece
Re: An interesting piece
Any chance of copying and posting the text?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: An interesting piece
Nice to see a 1960s custom or is it actually a Lesney colour trial? The choice of gray for the cab rather than red or white is an odd one.........
Re: An interesting piece
Very nice work Dave on an interesting Lesney ad clone. It is bit scary to see how quickly you have duplicated even the Tanker logo on yours. I am left speechless at both the original ad and now your talented re-creation of it's star........kwakers
Re: An interesting piece
What I want to know is the history of the Bronner Truck. Could it have been a mock up to get ESSO to sponser it?
Lesney could have done a million other variations (not BP) with the Bedford Tanker. Guess it's up to us repainters.

Dave, I think the silver would be a good color as Joe said...I think you should put that on your list

Re: An interesting piece
It is strange that Esso was the product featured on the Tanker in this picture. A mock up done by Bronner here in the U.S. is certainly the most logical explanation for it. If that used custom were found today in a Toybox, it would be sold for a song and no one would ever have it in their collection. Now that we have seen this Bronner ad, how many other Bronner Specials may still be around for us to ignore and brand as fakes? I bet we will all be looking a bit closer now.........Very Interesting point Dave! kwakers

Re: An interesting piece
It could have been done by Lesney and not done by Fred Bronner. This would explain the ESSO piece. Maybe someone can figure it out or knows something about it. The scrap books have all kinds of interesting pieces. I will get them scanned as soon as I can. If you are having trouble reading the material, click on the slide show button at the top right. This will blow it up, and you can control how fast the pages turn.
