Re: Interesting K8 Traxcavator

By increasing the lengths of the pins and turning them into rivets certainly would have improved efficiency of painting and assembly of this arm and hydro-sleeve housing. Painting of three parts and then trying to assemble would have been a messy process. Also makes for better stock storage. Nice to...

Re: Interesting K8 Traxcavator

Nice find Glenn. Dave has shown one with a white lower section here . I can not see a plastic hook on yours, is it an early one that is a cast in towing bar. There are a few changes over the life of model in the area circled in my pic attached as well. It is/was a model with some good casting detail...

Re: Sticky/Tacky Paint Register

Yes, I will have a close look at the gift set insert, cellophane and each model. In the meantime when checking my bible to see what the origin of some models were I thought I would check the current listing of the source of some of my tacky paint models. Here is a copy as it appears on his current f...

Re: Sticky/Tacky Paint Register

I have been doing a long term study on the tacky paint models and it was to be posted soon but this thread seems appropriate to add my findings. I think there is something to do with the plastics where these are stored in addition to a paint quality/process issue. There are two types of the carry ca...

Re: Dr Jeep's eBay finds

..... there’s a variation that’s hard to find and not listed in Nick’s guide. The 9c is nice, always nice to have a code 1 of any model especially given this is the only variation with crimped axles of over 20 variations. Is the unlisted you speak of the colour combination of the 29a Bedford Milk t...

Re: 73a model

There are actually two variations which have the gap between the tank and the rear bumper. Both concern the chassis rails immediately above the twin rear axles. The first, and by far the most difficult version to find, has a single elongated slot, whilst the second version has a vertical brace mid-...

Re: A mix of recent additions

Bert, I cannot measure the lenght of the exles for I do not have such a tool. Thanks to you and all others for the comments. The model nevertheless stays in my collection for it still intrigues me. And it's a special beauty! It indeed was cheap, I paid some GBP 23 / € 27, so to me it was worth to t...

Re: Something or Nothing?

I wonder if the same upper body casting was used for the K36b Construction Transporter without altering the number inside the casting. I do not have a beater to check that detail. It could perhaps account for colour testing given another version was being planned. 1974/5 was release year for K21 and...

Personally I would keep this model, it has interesting educational detail. I certainly would not put it back into circulation.

Re: A mix of recent additions

Hello Maarten and all, Axle, wheels and timelines are a pet subject of mine. I have an extensive record of where wheels and timeline fit into the Lesney era. It is my belief that the 9.5x20 tread count bpw were not introduced until 1962 and long after a very, very short run of bpw in 1961 when this ...
