#10 Pipe Truck Variation Question

With the snow and cold blowing outside I am going over some of my "duplicates" to see if I have any variations. Found several using the guide elsewhere on this website. Looking at the base on the pipe truck there is no "raised" platform. There is a partial halo of it but it is vi...

Re: Grit Spreader color

Thankyou for that info. I was unaware how easy it was to pop a base apart. I don't understand how it gets put back together but no need to show it. I will take your word for it. disassembly is the only way this could have been painted. I have compared the color to my collection and it does not match...

Re: Grit Spreader color

I noticed the red tint in the photo. It must be reflection as I cannot find any red on the model. I have taken a few more photos and will try to post them shortly. Front rivet looks fine. Rear is as everyone has said. Cannot see how it could have been painted without disassembly as there is paint be...

Re: Grit Spreader color

No big deal. I took a shot. Looked pretty good at the show in the poor light. Didn't pay much. Now I will have to check the other model I bought from the same guy. He had a number of MB. Now the big question is why would someone go to all that trouble of removing the dump and repainting it an off co...

Re: Grit Spreader color

Now that I have examined it alot closer it is not looking right. The rear rivet looks suspect. Along with the slide tab being broken. Possibly from trying to remove the base? Rear of base is slightly loose. The paint also is not smooth. You can see flakes all over it. The front rivet looks good to m...

Re: Grit Spreader color

Thankyou for the replies. I will post a photo of the rivets later today. They look fine to me but others can chime in. I will look at my collection and see if I can find a model that may have a similar color on it.

I will look at the variation guide to see if it appears to be an early casting.

Grit Spreader color

First time posting on this forum. Have not been very active on MB forums for a few years. Heavily involved in another hobby but have still been collecting. Picked this up at a train show last week. Noticed it from a distance that the color was not right. Did they use a primer coat and this one misse...
