More on the 16C Scammell Snow Plow
It was my good fortune to receive a heads up from a Matchbox collecting friend on the availability of a 16C Scammell Snow Plow. Like George's recent addition, this one features open steps on the left side and closed steps on the right. It is the model seen in at the bottom of the attached photo. The...

Re: The Very Best of 2020
Fun to see than Glenn/DrJeep has uncovered a new example of the 2a dumper with green painted small wheels and unpainted large wheels. So yes, Martin's Maxim in enacted and, just like that, a variation is born. Additions to my regular wheel collection this year have been almost non-existent. Just one...

Re: 6b with silver trim
Well, now we know where that 2nd model of mine went. It appears George has taken good care of it.Idris wrote:
UPDATE: It has been pointed out to me that George's and Greg's models are one and the same. (Look at the paint damage on the bumper.)

Re: 6b with silver trim
here's my example: Nick Jones variation code 1, hand-applied trim to the radiator grille only. (Greg - according the the second Lefora thread, you have a very similar model in playworn condition. Any chance you could repost the photographs here, together with the variation code? I can only access a...

Re: 6b with silver trim
Mine is a Code 1 on Nick's lineup. The silver trim paint is definitely brushed on and confined to the front face of the grill & radiator, the top of the radiator tank, and the two headlamps: IMG-0811.jpg Is that one of the models you bought from me? Yes Tinman, good memory! That is indeed one o...

Re: Dinky Toys 1948-49 Hudson Commodore
It just occurred to me that I posted a photo of the models with primer. Sadly, when I painted over the primer I got a nasty crackled paint reaction in patches. It looked as if black snowflakes were erupting through the paint. I stripped the paint and primer and repainted without primer. The Tinman i...

Dinky Toys 1948-49 Hudson Commodore
I find more Hudson models to add to my collection these days than I do Matchbox. A friend gave me a trio of rather troubled Dinky Toys Hudson models. I started with the two on the left. They depict the 1948-49 Hudson Commodore, the first Hudson of the so-called "step-down" era. dinky model...

Restoring a Plaster Hudson Design Model
Hey gang, My first post to the restorations forum so be kind and patient with me! I had contacted the Tinman for advice on stripping paint on this particular model. When I earlier sent him some photos of the finished product he asked me to post some pictures here. Mostly during the Step-down era (19...

Re: Repair of 12B Land Rover with GPW
Ya, I'm envisioning that in retirement (2023 is the plan) I'll probably fiddle more with model making, customizing models, maybe even taking a crack at some body work on a real automobile. But one thing's for sure! I will have an electric dental motor set up at the house with a stock of some basic d...
