Yes this was quite a lot of work. Another detail is the interior is brown above and yellow from below.

as suspected, the base was drilled out and the model repainted.
But looks good in this oliv color to me. On the lower edge of the
tailgate you can see the original beige color.

i found another variation in metallic blue with the golden base.

Red Aircraft Transporter with silver Base

ARAL - white Cab-Base.
