When the Highway Code used those wonderful pictures featuring Matchbox toys to show different traffic scenarios, they had the Corgi Jeep masquerading as a large lorry.

Re: Another Y3 Tram restoration
I've got one more in the que awaiting restoration. If you don't mind, I think I'll use yours as a color template and do the same. I look forward to seeing the result! I think the grey on the roof should be lighter than the shade I used. Post-war the roofs were much darker, but by then they all had ...

Re: Another Y3 Tram restoration
That green tram looks really smart and would certainly have complemented London Transport's green country area buses. Many years ago I finished one of these trams in full London Transport livery and added glazing. I actually used a 1980s Herbert Kees copy made in Hong Kong rather than an original Ye...

Re: Oldsmobile
The blue Toronado also appeared in Gift Set 36 towing a speedboat. My example is missing the figures from the boat - apparently there were "teething problems" at the Swimming with Sharks Experience. When the boat's on the trailer it looks better without occupants anyway. Corgi-Oldsmobile-B...

Re: A few Bedfords
I remember seeing the first Norfolk's OB coach in Tesco. I think the price was £8.99, but I didn't buy one as I wasn't keen on the wheels. Within a short amount of time the prices on the early issues rocketed, and a friend sold his Southdown one for a three-figure sum at a swapmeet. Unfortunately I ...

Re: Some advice regarding Dinky toys
Wow! That is a beautiful set of Dinky vans. These are very early Dinky Toys production. They came out in 1934 and were replaced by a completely different casting in 1935, but still numbered as the 28 series. The ”Type 1” vans which you have were produced in two sets of six, and your ones mostly come...

Re: A Mob of Minis
The Cadbury Mini is also modelled on a Mark 1 Mini. However, they seem to be going for a more modern vibe with the little tabs representing door mirrors, winged Mini badges and wheelarch extensions. It’s a little smaller than the old Corgi, but a nice casting which captures the Mini shape well. Over...

Re: A Mob of Minis
What a lovely selection of Corgi Minis! I see the green van is the less common version with the Countryman grille. Is the Wickerwork Mini Cooper with black roof a production error? Here are several more Corgi Minis: Later blue Competition Cooper with blue bonnet, early primrose Austin Seven. Corgi-M...

Re: Heres a challenge !
It's great that you've been able to find a replacement for a lost childhood favourite after some excellent detective work from forum members. I had one of these when I was young, and also had to replace it many years later due to my previous destructive tendencies. The few 1/25 Polistils I had were ...

Re: Came across this vanguards Triumph
To be accurate, Corgi shouldn't have used a common baseplate for the TR4 and TR4A, as the chassis weren't the same, the biggest difference being independent rear suspension on the TR4A. Having said that, some US-spec TR4As still had leaf springs. Not a big deal really, especially as most collectors ...
