Lesney Matchbox Major pack M10 Whitlock dinkum dumper |
|
In mid 1962 the Whitlock Dinkum rear dumper joined the majors series at number 10 in the majors series. The Dinkum was painted yellow all over, It was fitted with a red plastic steering wheel and the sides had black & white "D-D 70" decals applied, The rear body could be tipped and to steer the two halves of the vehicle pivoted on a central rivet. The wheels were bright die cast metal hubs with black plastic tyres but later red hubs were used instead, The axles were dome head with rounded ends. I believe the only casting modification was to the rear rivet which can be crimped on the early issues and rounded on the lated ones, There are no rare variations and it was not one of the most popular toys in the Majors series but it is not too hard to find nowadays and prices are low when compared to other models. It was packaged in a 'D' or 'E' type colour picture box and it was deleted in 1967 when the Majors series was scrapped. |
