BCM Space Outlaw ray gun

In 1947 the young Lesney company was first introduced to the possibility of manufacturing toys when a company called M.Y.Dart enquired if Lesney could make a part for their die cast toy cap gun which was called the "BCM Space Outlaw" ray gun.
Up to now Lesney had been involved in the manufacture of die cast electrical fittings and components and getting the contract for the part for the ray gun broadened their horizons,
They purchased a few Dinky toys to see how they were made and eventually made a copy of the Dinky road roller for about a third of the price of the Dinky model, These were originally sold by Woolworths but eventually they contacted Moko who were a toy wholesalers company to handle sales.
It is not known exactly which part of the Space Outlaw was made by Lesney but it is believed to be parts for the internal mechanism.
