Matchbox Superfast 60-b Leyland Site Hut truck

The Leyland Ergo cabbed Site Hut truck joined the SuperFast range for less than 2 years in 1970 during which time it could found packaged in ´G´ boxes and USA or Canada blisterpacks with copyright dates between 1969 and 1971. The body colour followed the same shades of medium blue and finally and most commonly bright blue that were applied to the #39 Ford Tractor during 1970 & 1971.

All plastic parts, glazing,chrome plated baseplate and the site hut were unchanged colours as per all Regular wheels issues. Wheels were always hot foiled 10.5 x2mm thin 5 slots which are most commonly hollow but occasionally solid (earlier darker paint issues). Standard black axle clips which could be either short or long hold the axle sets onto the baseplate and as a consequence wheel swaps are child´s play however none have ever been shown sealed on blisterpacks to date with any larger sized wheels.

There was one casting change to this Leyland truck midway through SuperFast production when the central rivit was deleted from the bodyshell and the corresponding hole in the baseplate was filled in smoothly. Rare crossovers exist fitted with modified body shells without the central rivit and earlier baseplates with the open hole for the centre rivit.

There is one very obvious mould difference to baseplates dependant upon their mould number, the ´PAT APP´ can be upside down when comparing both variations side by side (both versions are very common). No further use was ever made of this tooling.
