Matchbox Superfast MB28-d Mack Dump Truck

The Mack Dump truck was fitted with SuperFast wheels in 1970 and can be found packed in ´G´ or ´I´ boxes as well as any blisterpacks with 1969 to 1973 copyright dates.
A new design of spiro hub patterned balloon tyres were designed for this model and the #49 Mercedes Unimog, the largest SuperFast wheels fitted to any 1-75 series before the Mod Tractor came along! After the first production run new square section spiro hub wheels became standard.
The body casting was modified midway through the SF life to close up the previously open steps on both sides of the cab. At about the same time the spike on the underside of the dumper was shortened and the hole in the baseplate intended for the original length spike was later cast closed up.
The construction green paint shade darkened and became less yellowy during the 3 years that the SF Mack was in the 1-75 series. This casting was also assembled in Brazil during the early 1970s painted yellow. However no orange regular wheels bodies were ever fitted with SuperFast baseplates and no green bodies ever came with 1968 baseplates and pre-1970 hub and tyres.
In 1976 this tooling was revived for use as an Army truck in the two pack series. The body and baseplate castings were modified to better secure the rear axle and to rivit the front axle plastic clip. This casting appeared initially in the first run very dark olive colour which is hard to find today before being produced in very large numbers in standard olive green. Windows were not fitted to these military issues. Large hollow dot-dash pattern wheels were fitted to all military issues which were all were black without having chrome plate to the center.
